Gaelen Morpet

Gaelen joined Empire Life in November 2009 as Senior Vice‐President and Chief Investment Officer.

Throughout her 28‐year career in the investment management industry, Gaelen has proven herself as a superior investment professional and leader. As Chief Investment Officer, Gaelen leads the Empire Life Investment Team providing investment management for segregated funds and mutual funds.

Gaelen began her career as an Assistant Financial Analyst with McLeod Young Weir, then spent the next decade at Scotia Investment Management Ltd. as a Senior Portfolio Manager, responsible for Canadian Equities. Leaving the banking world, Gaelen joined AMI Partners Inc., where she co‐managed both institutional and mutual fund assets as one of seven operating partners in the firm. In 1999, she became Senior Vice‐President, Equities at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, then in 2002 became First Vice‐President, Canadian Equities at CIBC Global Asset Management Inc.

Gaelen is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Gaelen is a member of The Art Gallery of Ontario Foundation Board of Trustees & Chairman of the Investment Committee. She is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Ontario Science Centre and a former Governor for the North York Hospital Foundation Board and Vice‐Chair of their Nominating and Governance Committee.
