The Hal Jackman Fund

A donor directed fund, income from the Hal Jackman Fund, combined with an additional annual contribution from the Hal Jackman Foundation and the J.P. Bickell Foundation, supported the Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for the ArtsFrom 1995 to 2003,  84 arts organizations throughout the province received 162 awards totaling more than $ 2.5 million. 

As of 2005, income from the fund has been given to arts organizations, as directed by the Hal Jackman Foundation. Through the thoughtful philanthropy and vision of the Jackman family, over $ 1.8 million has been paid to arts organizations from 2005 to 2012.  In 2012 the fund was wound down and the last grants were dispersed.

Persistence and Passion:  A Donor's Story

The Wuchien Michael Than Foundation Fund was established by Michael Than in partnership with the Ontario Arts Foundation in 2013. Funding began in 2013 and contributions continue to grow the fund and support a granting program. Michael Than created the Fund to help create opportunities for the creation, development of Asian-Canadian theatre and to develop new works by Asian-Canadian playwrights.
