About the Ontario Arts Foundation

John D. McKellar CM QC, Vice-Chair

A lawyer with the firm WeirFoulds LLP., and for many years its Chairman, Mr. McKellar is Vice-Chair of the Ontario Arts Foundation, Chair of the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund, Chair of the Young Centre for the Performing Arts, an advisor to the Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts, and a board member of Tarragon Theatre, Toronto Arts Foundation, Off-Centre Music Salon, and The Glenn Gould Foundation.  He is also a producer of various plays and musicals and has several theatrical projects now in development.  He is Past Chair of the Toronto Arts Council, a Past President of the Arts and Letters Club of Toronto and a Past Member of the Canada Council for the Arts board of directors, and briefly acted as Chairman.

A member of the Order of Canada, Mr. McKellar is or has been a Director or Officer of various business corporations including the Giffels/NORR group of architects and engineers, Fruit of the Loom Canada Ltd., General Mills Canada Ltd., Chum Ltd., Uniroyal Ltd., MusiquePlus Inc., SportsNet Inc. and Netstar Communications Inc.  Mr. McKellar is the 2011 recipient of the Edmund C. Bovey Award as well as the Governor General's Ramon John Hnatyshyn Award for Voluntarism in the Performing Arts (2016).
