2014 Wuchien Michael Than Fund Grants Announced
Toronto, September 18, 2014 - The Ontario Arts Foundation and the Wuchien Michael Than Foundation are pleased to announce the 2014 grants from the Wuchien Michael Than Fund for the following new Asian-Canadian works:

Production and development grants from the Wuchien Michael Than Fund are available for the development of new works by an Asian-Canadian playwright which are either in production or in the pre-production phase and are projected to be ready for a full public production within one or two seasons.

"We firmly believe that our mission to develop and nurture Asian-Canadian theatre rests with the creation and production of new works that resonate with people and provide opportunities for members of the Asian-Canadian theatre arts community to practice their craft,” says Michael Than, founder of the Wuchien Michael Than Fund.
The Wuchien Michael Than Fund was established at the Ontario Arts Foundation by Michael Than in 2012 and launched in 2013 to support the development and nurturing of theatre arts in Canada, with a particular emphasis on new works by Asian-Canadian playwrights, and the development of emerging talent in the Asian-Canadian theatre community.
The application deadline for 2015 production and development grants is May 1, 2015.

Established in 1991, the Ontario Arts Foundation (OAF) is passionately committed to building long-term support for the arts in Ontario. In 2013-2014, the OAF paid out over $2.7 million in endowment income and $200,000 in awards and scholarships.
The Wuchien Michael Than Foundation was established to support the development and nurturing of theatre arts in Canada, with particular emphasis on the creation, development and production of new works by Asian-Canadian playwrights.
